  4. Aug 28,  · Subway Joe. Joe Bataan. August 28, out of 5 stars 4 ratings Ponte En Algo. Ponte En Algo. Not Available 7: Triste. Triste. Not Available 8: Magic Rose. Magic Rose. As a matter of fact I had not discovered Joe Bataan till recently. This album is a superb instrumental work and is full of good New York salsa mixed with a flavor of /5(4).
  5. The album kicks off with the fantastic groover "Subway Joe" – a hilarious tune about Joe trying to find a seat on the subway – and it rolls into killers like "Nuevo Jala Jala", "Juanito", "Ponte En Algo", and the wonderfully emotive "Special Girl".

  8. “Subway Joe” was the follow-up to his successful Fania debut album Gypsy Woman. As with its predecessor, the album features a rich mixture of styles. Although it was Joe’s bittersweet soulful voice and song writing skills that made the greatest impact (all the tracks are credited to him), his prowess as a pianist and arranger should.
  9. Originally released in and produced by Jerry Masucci, Subway Joe was Bataan's second album with Fania. The title cut "Subway Joe"; was the main hit off the album. With its driving percussion and blaring horns, it literally sounds like the Iron Horse is coming through the tunnel.
